Rens Budde

Rens advises a broad spectrum of financial institutions, including banks and payment service providers, on a variety of financial regulatory law topics and issues. He also advises non-financial institutions on the scope and impact of financial regulatory law.
Rens has a broad interest in financial regulatory law. He follows innovation in the financial sector and the rapidly changing laws and regulations with enthusiasm.
Prior to joining Finnius, Rens worked as an attorney at HVG Law (2019-2022). He graduated from Erasmus University Rotterdam and Utrecht University in 2019, majoring in Financial Law and State and Administrative Law.
As of June 1, 2022, Rens works at Finnius.

– Assessing the applicability of financial regulatory law on (financial) institions;
– Advising on license applications for payment service providers and electronic money institutions;
– Drafting internal policies and procedures for different types of financial institutions;
– Advising on various integrity related issues (Wwft & Sanctions Act).
Rens Budde has registered Financial Law as his principal legal practice area in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister).
Based on this registration, Rens is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in this registered legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
