Entry into force Fifth Anti-Money Laundering Directive (AMLD5) on 21 May 2020
AMLD5 enters into force in the Netherlands on 21 May 2020. The Dutch implementation legislation, that has been published in the Bulletin of Acts and Decrees on 20 May 2020 and is mainly implemented in the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (de Wet ter voorkoming van terrorisme financiering (Wwft), consists of:
- The Implementation Act AMLD5 (link, in Dutch).
- The implementation Decree AMLD5 (link, in Dutch).
- The Implementation Regulation AMLD5 (link, in Dutch).
The rules should have entered into force on 10 January 2020. In the eyes of the Minister of Finance, the short period between publication and entry into force is justified because it concerns the implementation of European legislation that had to be transposed into Dutch legislation before 10 January 2020.
